Reduce Waste & CO2

One of the biggest problems facing the shoe and leather industry is the waste created from trimming and cutting.

In search of a solution SIMONA invested in the latest technology for nesting and auto-cutting.

Not only does this cutting system significantly reduce waste, but also the carbon-footprint per sq ft of leather.

The cutting technology is based on a water-jet system which can cut a skin into parts within two minutes, using only 150 mL of water per skin. This water is then captured and siphoned back into the holding tank for reuse.

This allows SIMONA to offer customers pre-cut parts instead of full leather skins.

The factory will receive pre-cut parts which fall within a determined commercial range, reducing claims and production delays due to grading/defects, yielding a more efficient supply chain.
